    Gerrards Cross

This is now a modern town but was once the sight of an ancient British encampment. Its common was a regular haunt for highwaymen. The parish church nearby is a curiosity, paid for by two local ladies in 1859, and designed by Sir William Tite, architect of the Royal Exchange.
